Effective Date: 2026-04-16
Welcome to LocalizeKit ("we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.
LocalizeKit is a macOS application that automates translation of iOS/macOS localization files. This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use the LocalizeKit application.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
LocalizeKit is a privacy-focused application. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data, translation history, or file contents to our own servers.
2. Information Stored Locally
All your data is stored locally on your device:
- Application Preferences: Your selected translation engine, target languages, output directory settings, and appearance preferences.
- Translation Cache: Recently translated strings are cached locally to improve performance and reduce redundant API calls.
- Security-Scoped Bookmarks: File system access permissions for your chosen output directories are stored locally using Apple's security-scoped bookmarks.
This data is kept locally utilizing Apple's standard local storage mechanisms (such as UserDefaults). If you decide to delete the app, this local data will be removed from your device.
3. Third-Party Translation Services
LocalizeKit offers two translation engines:
- Apple Translation Framework: Translations are performed entirely on-device using Apple's built-in translation models. No data is sent to external servers.
- Google Cloud Translation API: When you choose to use the Google Translate engine, your source text strings are sent to Google's servers for translation. This requires an API key that you provide. We do not store or have access to your API key beyond your local device. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for information on how Google handles data sent to their translation service.
You have full control over which translation engine is used. If you prefer fully offline translation, you can use the Apple Translation engine exclusively.
4. File Access
LocalizeKit accesses .xcloc, .xliff, and .xcstrings files that you explicitly select through the file picker or drag-and-drop. We only read and write localization files that you provide. No file contents are sent to our servers.
5. Apple Services
LocalizeKit utilizes Apple's Translation framework for on-device translations. These translations are processed entirely on your device when using the Apple engine. No translation data is sent to us.
6. Children's Privacy
Our application does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is no risk of exposing children's data.
7. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Since we do not collect contact information, any updates will be reflected within the app or on its respective App Store page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
