Privacy Policy for Kodo
Effective date: June 12, 2026
Kodo ("Kodo," "the app," "we," "us," or "our") is a calm heart-rate and wellness companion for iPhone, developed by Azimjon Abdurasulov. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not handle, how your data stays on your device, and the choices you have.
We built Kodo to be private by design. The short version: Kodo has no account, no sign-up, and no server. Everything you measure stays on your iPhone. The longer version is below.
Summary
- No account, no sign-up, no cloud. You don't create a profile or log in.
- All your measurements are stored locally on your device. We don't run a server, and your data is not uploaded to us.
- No tracking. No analytics SDKs. No advertising SDKs. We don't profile you or sell your data.
- Camera is used only to estimate your heart rate in real time. No photo, image, or video is ever saved or transmitted.
- Apple Health is optional and under your control. You grant or revoke permission, and you can turn it off anytime.
- Payments are handled by Apple, not by us. We never see your card details.
- Suitable for all ages (4+). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
What This App Is
Kodo helps you understand your heart rate and stress in a calm, simple way. Its features include:
- Camera-based heart-rate measurement (~30 seconds). You cover the back camera and flash with your fingertip, and the app reads tiny color changes in your skin to estimate your heart rate, with a live waveform and a signal-quality indicator.
- Stress score (1–10) calculated from heart-rate variability (the timing between your heartbeats).
- Guided box breathing (4-4-4-4) with a before-and-after comparison.
- History and trends of your heart-rate and stress readings, shown as charts.
- Optional Apple Health sync.
Information We Collect
We do not collect your personal information. Kodo has no user accounts, and we do not operate any servers that receive your data. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any identifier to use the app.
The health-related information the app generates — your heart-rate readings, stress scores, breathing-session results, and the history built from them — is created and stored only on your device. We, the developer, never receive it.
What we specifically do NOT collect or do
- We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, phone, address).
- We do not create accounts or user profiles.
- We do not upload your measurements, health data, or history to any server.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
- We do not store or transmit any camera image, photo, or video.
- Kodo does not and cannot measure blood glucose.
On-Device Storage (Local Data)
All of the data Kodo creates — heart-rate measurements, stress scores, breathing-session comparisons, and your history and trends — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData).
Because there is no account and no cloud component, this data:
- Stays on your device,
- Is not synced to us or to any third party, and
- Is accessible only through the app on your device.
Camera Usage
Kodo uses your iPhone's back camera and flash to measure your heart rate using a technique called photoplethysmography (PPG). When you place your fingertip over the camera and flash, the app analyzes subtle changes in color, in real time, to estimate your pulse.
What you should know:
- Camera frames are processed live, only to compute your heart rate.
- No image, photo, or video is ever saved or stored, on your device or anywhere else.
- Nothing from the camera is transmitted off the device.
- The camera cannot and does not measure blood glucose.
iOS will ask for your permission before Kodo can access the camera. You can review or change this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera (or in Kodo's entry in the iOS Settings app).
Apple Health (HealthKit)
Apple Health integration is optional and only happens with your explicit permission. If you choose to connect Kodo to Apple Health:
- Kodo writes your heart rate and heart-rate variability to Apple Health.
- Kodo reads heart rate and heart-rate variability from Apple Health.
- Kodo reads blood glucose on a read-only basis, solely to display — conditionally — glucose values that you have already synced into Apple Health from other apps or devices. Kodo never measures glucose and never writes glucose to Apple Health.
Health data accessed through Apple Health is never shared with us or with any third party, and it never leaves your device except into your own Apple Health (with your permission).
You are always in control. You choose which data categories to allow, and you can change or revoke Kodo's Health permissions at any time in the Apple Health app → Sharing → Apps → Kodo, or in the iOS Settings app. Revoking access does not delete data already stored in Apple Health; that remains under your control in the Health app.
We use Apple Health data only to provide the features described in this policy. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it for marketing or any other purpose.
No Tracking, Analytics, or Advertising
Kodo contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. We do not build profiles about you, we do not track your activity across other apps or websites, and the app is ad-free.
Payments and Subscriptions
Kodo offers an optional subscription and purchase called Kodo Plus. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit).
- We do not see, receive, or store your credit card or payment details.
- Purchases are charged to your Apple ID and managed in your App Store account settings.
- Auto-renewing subscriptions renew unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The Lifetime option is a one-time, non-renewing purchase.
For details about how Apple handles your purchase information, please see Apple's privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
Kodo is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children (or from anyone), because the app does not collect personal information at all and has no accounts or servers. All data the app creates stays on the device. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions, please contact us using the details below.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data lives only on your device:
- You control retention. Your measurements and history remain on your iPhone until you delete them.
- Deleting the app removes its local data. Uninstalling Kodo deletes the on-device database it created, including your measurements, stress scores, and history.
- Data written to Apple Health is separate. If you synced heart rate or heart-rate variability into Apple Health, that data remains in the Apple Health app even after you delete Kodo. You can review and delete it directly in the Apple Health app.
Since we never receive your data, there is no copy on our side to request, export, or delete.
International Users
Kodo processes and stores data locally on your device, wherever you are located. We do not transfer your data to servers in any country, because we do not operate servers that receive your data. Your data does not leave your device except into your own Apple Health (with your permission) or as handled by Apple for payments. By using the app, you understand that your information is handled as described in this policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the Effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated through the app or the App Store listing. Your continued use of Kodo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
